The project
What is it?
White Straight Man is my stand-up persona: the character I play on stage, based on a heightened version of my own life. It's also a comedy series, part stand-up, part sketch.
Why the name?
I started stand-up without a clear persona, so I worked from the template of who I already am: a clean slate. And with open mic line-ups full of white straight men, there didn't seem much point giving my real name. People were going to forget me anyway.
