Tiktok has become one of the biggest social media platforms in the last five years and if my generation hasn’t joined it, they’ve tried damn well tried to ignore it.
I’ve finally decided that I cannot ignore this platform any longer and that I’ve been extremely foolish to not even think about publishing my content on this platform much, much earlier.
I remember a time when you’d have to be extremely lucky to reach 1,000,000 views on Youtube or you were sucking someone off (my lips are still chapped) that was managing that cryptic algorithm. I honestly can’t believe we live in a world where some thirteen-year-old can upload a video of a badly choreographed dance and casually achieve one million views overnight.
Although, I guess the challenge is being able to make a video that’s entertaining and engaging in less than sixty seconds. Is it a challenge though? It takes me about two weeks to do an average five – six-minute sketch; plan and outline the script, write it, organise the shoot, film the fucking thing, do all the post-production, audience previews (if you do adult comedy and don’t do this, you really should) and publish it. The writing probably takes me the shortest time out of all those activities. So, imagine if it was less than sixty seconds…
This is why I’m launching my new project “#ShortNSketch”. This project aims to challenge my creativity by compiling sketches shorter than sixty seconds.
